Edgar Fernandez is a professional working artist based in Phoenix, Arizona. Fernandez creates themes that are decidedly pro-indigenous and exudes a strong sense of Xicano identity. Early in his career, he learned that when he looks within his ancestral background, he can always find new ways of expressing himself. Currently, Fernandez focuses on creating timeless artwork with the goal of achieving a legacy as an artist who remained connected to his heart and inspired others to do the same.

Full-Circle
This design inspiration started from an early point in my career referencing initial art-walks with professors and local practicing artists. During these early years, I was inspired by Mexican master artists like Rufino Tamayo, Jorge González Camarena, and Roberto Montenegro, and the connection between my culture and the culture that I experienced here on O'odham land became a prominent presence in my art practice.
Niño AhauNiño Ahau is a reference to the Mayan glyphs “Ahau” and “Ik" – meaning "young light" and "wind" in English. I used these ancient Mayan glyphs and transformed them into one singular character influenced by my graffiti background and Mexican master artist Rufino Tamayo.
