Nick Bultman is an abstract painter whose work explores the unity between technical precision and organic movement. Self-taught and driven to develop his creative abilities, he left a corporate career in 2023 to pursue art full-time, sharing his art journey and process with a growing audience online. Based in Gilbert, Arizona, Nick’s work challenges conventional painting techniques through his signature style, which he calls Velocity Painting.

Shapeshifter
“I love exploring the dynamic between organic movement and technical precision. Shapeshifter is an undeniably energetic, explosive moment of shapes and colors inspired by our beautiful Arizona sunsets. Given the narrow walkway where Shapeshifter is displayed, I wanted to create a design that invites the viewer to interact with the painting from all angles. Shapeshifter is my first mural, so the name is also a reminder for us to step out of our comfort zones and learn to adapt to our environment.“
Frequent Flyer
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve had this recurring dream where I’m able to freely fly around, and this painting is an attempt to visualize this subconscious feeling. Frequent Flyer utilizes an intense visual chromatic effect, splitting primary colors into flowing, flying forms while cubic glass refractions bring a subtle sense of realism into the work. The painting is an attempt to capture the rush of weightlessness while being grounded in reality. It makes me feel like I’m flying again.“
